I've raised £5000 to build a WHOLE HOUSE for The Joy Foundation!

"We now get to play instead of beg or work for food. We have three meals a day. I didn't know this life could exist for us!" Stephen, age 9.
Did you know it only costs £5,600 to build a house that could host 6 vulnerable children living on the streets of Uganda?
The Joy Foundation was formed in April 2020 after two friends - Jade, 25, from England and Benjamin, 26, from Tororo, Uganda - met on a volunteering trip in Uganda. They realised they had a shared vision to help orphaned and vulnerable children and decided to do something about it together, starting in Tororo.
Over the last 8 months, The Joy Foundation has been able to support three families, including nine children and one widowed mother. In this time it has supplied families with monthly food packages, maintained home-schooling for children during the school closures of the pandemic and enabled those who were originally squatting in derelict buildings to move to improved accommodation through the provision of rent payments. In addition, the relief of living and playing together in a safe environment and sharing Bible studies has brought much joy to family life.
Joy now has a small team of volunteers, including a pastor and a social worker, who provide high-quality, holistic care for the people they now call family. This has enabled Joy to begin working towards its vision of building a small village for the families it supports and the many more children it plans to help.
The village will contain four houses and a community centre, providing residential care for up to 24 children and support for many more local children and families through the community centre. The rest of the land will be used to grow crops and produce animals, so that the mothers of each home can earn an income.
Due to the hard work of Joy's volunteers and the generosity of their givers, the team at Joy has already raised over £10,000 and completed half of this project!
Our '5k to £5k' challenge is aiming to raise the amount needed to build a WHOLE HOUSE for this project, to bring Joy one step closer to finishing their build and opening their village in May! They are so nearly there!
Our group of volunteers have set themselves different challenges, running a range of 5k to 50k, some over 5 days, some less, to help hit this target!
It is a privilege to support such a worthy cause and we are all really excited to be on this journey with The Joy Foundation, we hope you are too! Anything you can give is so helpful and goes directly to the foundation, bringing them closer to helping change children and families' lives for the better.
Joy-in us!
