Story
I am fortunate to be able to travel to Zimbabwe in March of this year to visit my roots.
My parents worked as Missionaries at a High School run by the Methodist Church - Thekwane High School, Plumtree, Zimbabwe. A boarding school serving local children and also those from more remote areas. My twin brother and I were born there and as a family we left there in 1970 to come to England. This is my first and possibly only chance to go back and see where I spent my early years. I will be travelling with a couple of friends and my eldest Step Daughter - Bekkie. We are spending 4 days in Zimbabwe and then travelling to Maputo, Mozambique to Volunteer at a Childrens Centre for two weeks supporting some members of my church who have committed to working there for some years.
As part of the visit I wish to honour the memory of my Mother and Father, Eric and Margaret Birtles who between them committed 22 years to the Methodist Mission in Zimbabwe.
I wish to raise the funds in order to gift the school a Sanitary Incinerator, as the Principal of the school has informed me that this will be a great help to improve the girls hygiene.
Your support would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you. Jane Le Blond
