    Story

Fertile Ground is the premier professional graduate dance company based in the North East.

Fertile Ground’s latest endeavour is The Leap summer education project, which will bring dance workshops into schools across the North East starting in Northumberland in June. Please help Emma Palmer and Lerato Mncube work with as many children and young people as possible; schools and communities are suffering from huge budget cuts and we will focus on places which have limited access to the arts, offering children the chance to dance!
Fertile Ground’s previous workshops have been welcomed by schools and have had a big impact on the children who participated…

“Everyone was focused on the dance and had a not good, not great, but spectacular performance. The parents were sat there gob smacked and with jaws dropped” – Year 5 lad, Bede Community Primary School

“This is a hugely exciting project that we feel will benefit our students greatly. Having the opportunity to work with professional dancers may not only give possible inspiration to some for their own futures, but will also open the eyes and minds of all to appreciate dance as an art form with more understanding.” -
Nick Anderson, Headteacher at Bede Community Primary School

The North East has the highest child poverty rate in the UK and the highest number of children eligible for free school meals. Children from deprived backgrounds often miss out on the chance to discover the arts and so The Leap project will work towards creating equal opportunities for children across the region.

We need your help to deliver more workshops to local schools. Please donate so more children get to experience the magic of dance.
