We want to support really worthy local causes, with a particular focus on cancer patients and their families, locally on Gran Canaria. We work with patient associations, created by sufferers and cancer survivors, to look after the psychological and emotional needs of the patient as well as their immediate family. We also work with the local food bank to support the many families in need who rely on the generosity of the local community, native and foreign, to ensure that accommodation, clothing and food are available to those who need it most.
While lots of Spanish state money nationally goes to large cancer research and medical treatment organisations, after treatment care and patient support during recovery in Spain is not well provided. Similarly the Spanish benefits system is sorely lacking and it falls to food banks and local residents projects to help ensure that those who are struggling can survive and try to improve their situation.
Locally organised groups to try to provide the necessary emotional and psychological support to those in need, with experience based information to help those who are suffering most feel that they can get through the challenges ahead of them.
The local associations we work with also to provide support for life partners and even children to help them understand what is happening, and how they can stay positive, grow and help to overcome life challenges they face.
We want residents and visitors to Gran Canaria to join us in a message of solidarity; that by working together, we can all cross mountains, no matter high, no matter how far we have to travel to achieve what might often at first appear unachievable..
