I've raised £10000 to support mums with under fives in temporary accommodation in Newham

The Magpie Project is a community based volunteer run charity set up by concerned mums, aunties and grandmums who were worried about the plight of children under five living in temporary or unfit accommodation in the borough. Recent figures show that 2,000 under-fives live in temporary accommodation in Newham. These families fighting homelessness struggle with the basics: stimulating play, enough to eat, clean, warm clothes, and a chance to have fun. A safe, clean place to sleep, cooking or bathroom facilities. That is where The Magpie Project helps. We provide: • a secure, safe place to play; • a warm atmosphere where mums and their children can relax and make friends; • a healthy snack and nutritious hot lunch; • parenting support; • access to advice on housing, debt, employment, health, mental health; and • Signposting to food banks, mental health services, children’s centres and others. Help us to stop a stint in temporary accommodation causing permanent damage to Newham’s most vulnerable children. www.themagpieproject.org twitter, facebook, instagram: @magpieprojectuk charity number: 1176267.
