The Michael Tippett School caters for students aged from 11 up to 19 years of age. We specialise in providing education for students who have profound, severe and complex additional needs, many come with a diagnosed autistic spectrum disorder.

Our modern learning environment is stimulating and motivating, designed to meet the very specific and individual requirements of all our students. The school is situated in between Loughborough Junction and Herne Hill. We are housed in a beautiful building that, over time, has been adapted and modified to meet the needs of our young people. We benefit from a vibrant local community which provides many unique and enjoyable learning opportunities for our students. The college and respite are housed in a newly refurbished building based in a quieter part of the borough where the borders of Brixton and Balham meet.

Last year we had a MOTOmed, passive/active exercise bike, on trial this was a great success with our wheelchair bound students. It is a chance to build up mobility e.g. muscle strength, endurance and coordination.

Furthermore we know movement helps your emotional well-being, creating a positive state of mind as well as stimulating the brain.

This exercise bike is not a cheap piece of equipment and therefore parents/carers and staff are looking to raise money for the MOTOmed as well as scooters for our more able students.

Various fundraising activities and events are taking place e.g. half marathons, bike rides and not to forget our big Summer Fair on 24th June....therefore watch this space!
