Story
Our daughter Quinn was born with spina bifida myelomeningocele L2-L5 and hydrocephalus, treated with a VP shunt. As most know, we travelled to Belgium in the height of COVID for fetal surgery to help repair her damaged spinal cord but we were refused at the last minute. Quinn is the cleverest and most strong willed little girl, her legs are proving her biggest challenge. She has proven herself a fighter and is surpassing all expectations and hurdles put in front of her.
Her next hurdle is walking. Whilst we are happy if she needs a wheelchair, we want to give her all opportunities and resources to meet her full potential. She's gaining more and more muscle and movement in her legs and we believe spinal stimulation will only further aid her. This equipment and specialist isn't funded by the NHS and comes with a hefty price tag. She'll also need knee supports, a stander, private physio and a wheelchair to help her get mobile whilst we work with spinal stimulation team.
To us, helping Quinn walk and the resources to do so are priceless, however this kit isn't free and, with no other financial support, we are having to reach out to get help to get this equipment for her.
To our mighty Quinn, you make us so proud everyday and I hope you see how much love and support you have behind you. Keep surprising us all baby girl
