Story
Hi, my name is Theo Elsey This summer and early Autumn I am walking 164 miles, the equivalent distance as the crow flies from Manchester Arena, Manchester to Westminster Bridge, London. The walk is in memory of all victims lost to terrorism and disaster in these two UK cities. Funds raised will go towards helping start up a new charity, "Walk 164" The fund will be used to help individuals and their families who are affected by the trauma of disasters such as we all witnessed in 2017. The majority of the funds collected from this appeal will go in helping personal friends of my wife and myself, our friends are parents to a young man who survived but lost his partner and her son in the Grenfell Tower Fire tragedy. We know how hard our friends have to work to save for train fares to London to be with their son who is struggling with this tragedy in his life daily. I wanted to take their story and feature it on our walk 164 website but we are following their wishes not to mention names, however It is my wish to raise enough money and help them with their own travel costs, enabling them to be together with their son.
The walk I am doing for this first year is mainly by myself, the idea however is to make the walk an annual event to where we make it open for others to join us. So, this year is a bit of a test run perhaps! None the less, I am still doing this for sponsorship and appeal to anyone who would like to help me help others. To get the latest news on how we are developing as a charity and for my own progress in the walk, please visit our website today, thank you. www.walk164.uk
