Story

Hi everyone, my name is Ollie White.

I’m 25 years old and I’m from Sligo, in the west of Ireland. For the past three years, I’ve been living in Spain — one year in Valencia and the last two years in Madrid. It’s been the most incredible experience, and I’ve learned so much both personally and professionally. Most importantly, I managed to achieve my big goal of learning a second language, which was one of the main reasons I moved to Spain in the first place.

Now, I felt like it was time for a new challenge.

After being lucky enough to get a ticket for Glastonbury Festival this June, I decided I’d cycle from my apartment in Madrid all the way to Glastonbury — taking just under a month, leaving on May 28th and arriving at Worthy Farm on June 25th. But it doesn’t stop there. After Glastonbury, I’ll continue cycling all the way home to Sligo, back to the village of Grange where I’m from.

When I first planned this trip, I knew I was going to post some videos along the way, but I never imagined so many people would watch, follow, and enjoy them. I’ve received so many lovely messages and support from people following my journey. And now, with thousands of people watching, I want to use this opportunity to raise money for two causes that mean a lot to me.

I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do this trip — to have the freedom to explore beautiful places by bike — but I’m also very aware that so many people around the world are facing incredibly difficult situations. If I can help in any small way, it would mean the world to me.

I’ll be splitting all donations 50/50 between two charities:

North West Hospice (Sligo) - https://www.northwesthospice.ie/

North West Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to people with life-limiting illnesses in Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan. So many families, friends, and people I know back home in Sligo have needed the care and support of North West Hospice during incredibly difficult times in their lives. The work they do is absolutely vital for our community and I’d love to give something back.

Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) - https://msf.org.uk/

With everything going on in the world right now — in places like Palestine and so many other war-torn areas — I believe that access to humanitarian aid is a basic human right. Doctors Without Borders provide life-saving medical care to people caught up in some of the world’s worst crises, often putting themselves in incredibly dangerous situations to do so. I want to support their work, especially right now.

Any donation, big or small, would mean so much. Thank you for supporting me, and for supporting these two incredible causes ❤️
