On Sunday 16th September I will be running the Warrington half marathon alongside some of my friends from St. Ambrose College. We are raising money towards our immersion trip to Sierra Leone in February 2019 .

Saint Ambrose Academy in freetown is a sister school of our college, located in one of the most deprived areas of Sierra Leone. During our time we will be working with the pupils and staff at the school, not only working in the classroom but also taking the time to experience the starkly different culture and way of life by spending time with the children and families of the school.

The school has recently benefited from the construction of a bore hole which has provides both clean drinking water and sanitation water. This has been long overdue, particurlarly in a country affected so badly by the outbreak of the Ebola disease. But we were only able to provide this thanks to the continued generosity of the St. Ambrose community, and so it is really important that we continue this relationship with our sister school as we are making a real difference to people‘s lives and the immersion trip plays a key role in maintaining this relationship.

I will be aiming for a time of sub-two hours, and those that know me will know that running is not my forte and so I have had to put in a lot of training! If you can afford to give a small donation, I would be eternally grateful as would the children of St. Ambrose Academy, any donation no matter how big or small will help make a big differnece x
