Weʼve raised £20 to help The Red Box Project Merton support local schools to provide free sanitary items to girls in need.

Funded on Tuesday, 19th February 2019

    Story

I can't stand silent any longer. I am helping to fundraise for The Red Box Project which aims to provide pads and tampons to schools so no girl ever has to miss a day of school because they can't afford sanitary products. Seriously! This happens. IN THE UK! This needs to change!

Please join me in my efforts by either donating products (unopened box of pads/tampons/pants[underwear] - Contact me so we can coordinate a drop-off point) or donate to the cause online- here. I will be taking the collection to the organisation in mid-November.

I am sure you'd agree that we would never let our daughters or sisters miss school because they don't have access to sanitary products.

Let's use the spirit of Diwali to give in abundance! Thank you in advance for your support.

Below is more on the project:

The Red Box Project - How it Works

You may recently have seen news reports that disadvantaged young women in the UK are missing school because they have started their period and find it hard to obtain sanitary products. The result? Anxiety, embarrassment, missed lessons, missed education.

The Red Box Project, a charitable community group based in Portsmouth but with branches all over the UK. This should be a straightforward problem to solve. So here is what they've done.....

Local branches of The Red Box Project sponsor and stock red boxes filled with sanitary towels, tampons and spare pants. The boxes are kept in schools at Reception, with the Nurse, Student Services or with an appropriate member of staff.

This is a simple project and is entirely funded by community kindness. On behalf of the Project, I am fundraising so there is ample supply of free sanitary products which will be kept in local schools when they request one.

    Here's How You Can Help:

🔴 Donate to The Red Box Project fundraising page - here you are! Funds raised will help to purchase supplies, to keep the boxes in Merton fully supplied. The price of one coffee a month would support one young woman through her period.

🔴 Donate in kind. Add a packet or two of light to normal flow sanitary towels to your weekly shop. Please message me for drop off details, or, if you prefer to donate in your area, please contact redboxprojectuk@gmail.com.

🔴 Tell your friends about us and ask them to consider supporting the project.

🔴 Break the stigma of menstruation. Talk about it. Men and women alike can make a difference.

    Want to get on board?

🔴 Please contact me if you would like to fundraise or donate products for boxes.

Feel strongly that no young woman should be embarrassed or miss her education because of her period?

🔴 Get together with friends, colleagues or neighbours and help to provide products so girls have a place to turn!

Thank you so much for your support,

    Puja
