Story

The Red Box Project is a national and voluntary community based project to help end period poverty within schools and colleges across the country by donating Red Boxes of sanitary wear for young people to access. Our aim is to reach those who may not be able to afford these vital items.

1 in 10 girls from ages 10 to 18 years old in the UK cannot afford sanitary wear. This has lead to 137,700 girls missing school in the last year due to period poverty.

What shocking and upsetting statistics! Which is why we desperately want to bring the project locally to Barnstaple and branch out to the surrounding areas in North Devon. We can make a huge difference to the lives of the young people of our community and to their future by providing our schools and colleges with free sanitary wear through our Red Box Project.

To be able to kickstart the project we are asking our community to help us fundraise money for resources such as the Red Boxes themselves, promotional materials like posters and flyers and donation collection bins.

We can then set up donation points across North Devon, where anyone can donate sanitary wear and other appropriate products that will go into our boxes such as pairs of pants and discreet paper bags. Using these donations we will then be able to send out our Red Boxes into our schools and keep them regularly topped up through our volunteers.

We are looking for ANYONE who can help, of any age/gender. Whether that be through a money or sanitary donations, setting up a donation point or collection within your business or with your work colleagues/friends or volunteering to help collect/send out donations. There are so many ways you can help. Small or big.

Out of gratitude we would love to set up competitions, raffles and fun events! So please join us and help make a difference to so many young people's lives in North Devon.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, please share share share and for more info...

22, Barnstaple North Devon. I am a mother who enjoys blogging about motherhood and all things taboo. This has led me to become a coordinator for The Red Box Project as I am very passionate about period poverty and believe sanitary wear should be accessible to all.
