Story
In 2020, Rhys’ friends and family came together in what was a challenging time for all. Together, through #runwithrhys, we collectively raised an amazing £7755 in Rhys’ memory. Over the last 18 months, the family have been in touch with Loughborough University to establish how this money raised could be used in the most beneficial way.
Rhys was always conscious of how fortunate he was in life, and often proactively sought out opportunities to help others who were less fortunate than him. In line with his selfless approach to life, we would like to introduce the Rhys Jenkins Opportunity Fund. In partnership with Loughborough University, this fund will help students financially who without help, may not have the opportunity to attend and gain the experiences that so many of us have been lucky enough to enjoy and benefit from. Rhys enjoyed his time at University, especially within the Design School, and enabling others to gain such experiences aligns with the legacy Rhys has left.
We thoroughly appreciate any donations you can make towards this worthy cause, but most importantly we encourage you to get active in Rhys’ memory, whether it’s a brisk walk, a short run or Lands End to John O’Groats – he would be proud of your ‘get up and go’. This fund will provide 3 yearly instalments of £3000 to one student. The #runwithrhys hashtag will be back on Instagram and Facebook throughout the year so please do tag us so we can keep up to date with everyone’s efforts.
