Story

About Us

Aberdeen Gilbert & Sullivan Society is an independent performing arts group which operates in Aberdeen, Scotland. We work closely with the community to provide a high quality musical experience for all ages and backgrounds.

We have a reputation as one of the finest amateur operatic groups in the N-E of Scotland, and are unique in Aberdeen, as the only company currently performing full-scale Gilbert & Sullivan operettas on the local stage.

As we are self-funding we rely on the talent and generosity of our members and friends to provide professional standard productions for our local community.

Our History

Aberdeen G&S was founded in 1976 by students Michael James and Derek Blyth and remained a student group at the University of Aberdeen until 2015 when the decision was made to separate from the Students’ Association and officially open membership up to the full community.

The Sorcerer

For the first time in 144 years, we are delighted to be performing The Sorcerer at the Tivoli Theatre. Dates: Thursday, August 4, 2022 - Saturday, August 6, 2022

Alexis and Aline hire a cut-rate London sorcerer, John Wellington Wells to concoct a love potion and distribute it among the guests at their engagement party.

With comically mismatched couples, the hilarious and not so hilarious consequences soon become apparent.

To reverse the potion someone has to sacrifice themselves, but who should that be?
