Iʼve raised £9,337 to offer the homeless and needy in Oxford the chance of a hot and hearty meal. Any help in keeping this project afloat is so so appreciated!

Story
The homeless situation in Oxford is becoming an epidemic and as the temperatures fall over the Christmas period, their situation is becoming increasingly bleak. My aim is to try and give these poor people a hot meal as often as is possible to keep them warm through the winter months and beyond. It's hardly a solution but hopefully a hearty and wholesome bowl of soup will at least let them know we care and want to help.
The money will be spent exclusively on ingredients, equipment and the upkeep of the bicycle so every pound you give really does make a huge difference. I will attempt to operate as often as possible and will be sporadically asking for your donations to keep this project afloat. Thank you in advance for all your support!

7 years agoAnother month passes and the soup peddler has been serving anything but soup thanks to this beautiful weather we’re experiencing. Chilli and nachos and hotdogs and burgers have all been on the menu in recent weeks as somehow, it just didn’t quite feel like leek and potato weather! Thanks for all your kind donations, and lets have a wonderful summer! xxx

7 years agoSix months into this project and I’m still smashing out 150 meals a week for our forgotten citizens - that’s over three and a half thousand hungry mouths fed since December - and The Soup Peddler is now a well oiled machine... Well, most of the time at least! A massive thank you for all the kindness shown by those who help me cook the soup, those who donate and all of you for your words of encouragement. You guys rock! Here’s to another six months! ✌️✌️✌️

The Soup Peddler
7 years agoAnother eventful month has passed with a little rest bite from the unforgiving conditions at least. There does seem be some positivity in the hope that the weather may well be taking a turn for the better. It’s important to remember that this situation merely marginally improves, it by no means go away, during the more favourable seasons. Thanks again for all your donations, support and kind words, and for allowing me to continue this work. It’s fascinating, bewildering and frustrating in equal measures but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I think this is a really good course and am really happy to contribute to this charity and urge more people to do so, anyone of us could end up on the streets, we need to think about how lucky we are!
