The Steve Downey Support Fund.

In memory of Steve, Tooting and Mitcham United Football Club have helped me to establish the Steve Downey Support Fund. Tooting and Mitcham United FC is a non-league football club which prides itself in bringing through young talented players who have been overlooked by bigger clubs. Players without parental support and financial restrictions are prevented from moving up the footballing pyramid through no fault of their own. The club believe that every player should be given an equal chance regardless of background, economics or ethnicity and try to assist in any way they can. This can be by giving travelling expenses, kit, boots whatever that young person needs to succeed.

Steve was an avid supporter of the club and often took his daughters to games. As a family we feel this would be a fitting tribute to his memory and a cause that he would have been passionate about. We have asked for family flowers only at his funeral.
