Story

The Thinking Box is a collective of individuals and businesses striving for Innerleithen to be the most inclusive and accessible town in the Scottish Borders.

As part of this, we are fundraising to buy a Bowhead Reach adaptive mountain bike for disabled people to use at no cost so that they can ride the brilliant trails and experience the outdoors of the Tweed Valley that so many of us take for granted. Disabled people are some of the most marginalised in society and half of the people living in poverty in the UK are disabled or live in a family with a disabled person. We know mountain bikes are expensive but mobility equipment is often multiples of the cost of a mid-range mountain bike. As such, access to the great outdoors beyond a paved path is impossible for many. We hope to change that in some small way.

The money fundraised here will go towards purchasing the bike and the costs associated with storing and maintaining it, and providing training and guiding, as required.

Thank you. Please help us help more people to access the great outdoors.
