    Story

Whilst organising our ‘12 Gifts of Christmas’ for our pub charity, The White Horse Wishing Well, we received more & more stories of people who are struggling, the longer this pandemic continues.

Not just emotionally, but financially as well.

We wanted to do more than just our ‘12 Gifts’ and help as many people as we can and we think we can do this, with the huge following this pub has. So we have come up with a way to hopefully keep helping people, for as long as this lockdown continues and not just for the Christmas just gone.

Every week for every tip we receive, it will go into our tip jar and once a week, we will pick someone who really needs a little help. The person will remain anonymous, but we will tell you a little about why we are helping them. We may only raise £20 a week, but even a small basket of shopping may ease a little financial worry, for someone in our community. We will keep doing this until we are back open, or until people stop tipping.

If you want to help, you can by tipping online below. If you’ve had a great meal here (when we were open), or recently had a takeaway and would like to tip the service, even a £1 will make a difference. Every penny in the £1 will be used to help a family. It's not just about money though, as we are aware everyone is struggling right now. If you can offer a service, whether that be fixing a car, a washing machine, a little bit of plumbing, anything that can ease the financial worries of someone, please get in touch. This campaign is more about galvanising a community and paying it forward, rather than emptying pockets. Whatever you can offer, drop us an email, we may come across someone who needs your help.

(The funds will be coordinated and distributed by members of The White Horse Wishing Well committee)

This week’s person we are going to help is a young mum, whose small business income has completely been decimated by the pandemic. In October her car broke down and then her washing machine over Christmas. Because of her situation, she has been unable to get either fixed. The first weeks tips are going to help her & her young family.

If you wish to nominate someone, please email info@whitehorsequorn.co.uk or message us on here. We may get hundreds of nominees, but we’ll help who we can. Spread the word, let’s get the tip jar full and let’s help get some people back on their feet in our community.
