The Woodoaks Association Summer Festival was formed in 2014, after the organizers came across the original documentation of the Woodoaks Farm Festival back in the 1940’s. Events back in the day included, vegetable growing competitions, Boxing matches, local sellers, live music, tug of war and sporting events. The Woodoaks team decided to bring back this community event, to help bring together the local community with all the old fashion values that it used to hold.
The Woodoaks team still wanted to incorporate the event around an ethos that promotes a healthy and creative lifestyle for all. Although the festival will be host to some familiar features and elements such as live music and food stalls, a variety of unique and original activities will set it apart from other local summer festivals and events. From baking competitions, giant blow-up assault courses to story telling and nature walks around Woodoaks’ enchanting farmland.
The event itself will not only promote the very ethos the farm has always stood by, but will also provide a wonderfully communal and friendly atmosphere, making it truly appropriate for everyone and all ages of the local community. The Woodoaks Association are consistent in their beliefs when it comes to community, and their desire to provide services that are inclusive to everyone, stands strong in every aspect of this very special event.
The event comes with a very important goal in mind, and one that the Woodoaks teams have been working towards for some time. The Black Barn is a 16th Century listed building, and is at home on Woodoaks Farm. The building itself is quite a sight, with creativity and history engrained into the woodwork, and the potential to be something very special indeed.
Next year we are looking to be able to fund for a big headliner act!! So let's get the community together and really celebrate summer in style.
