Story

Patagonia Challenge

As you may remember, last year we did an ‘Environment Day’ looking at the issues we all face globally in terms of Climate Change and Biodiversity. Our students are passionate about this, which is fantastic, and the Department for Education (DfE) document ‘Sustainability and Climate Change: a strategy for the education and children’s services system’ clearly shows the aim for the UK to be world-leading in this regard, in the education sector, by 2030. So, with that in mind, one of our school Governors, Mr Brandon Bell has agreed to cycle 2500km through Patagonia, with sponsorship money going towards two local schools, ours being one of them, for a ‘green project’ within school such as an outdoor classroom, nature trail, sensory garden etc. And it doesn’t end there… we have been asked, as a school, to produce a documentary following Mr Bell’s journey, which has brought students from across the whole school together. We are already blown away by the level of media talent out there amongst the student body, so maybe we have the next Attenborough in our midst, who knows?! If you would like to support this challenge and raise money for a ‘green project’ in school please donate via the link below. Mr Bell embarks upon this adventure at the end of November, so look out for posts on our social media platforms.
