So a month or so ago I decided wanted to take on a challenge to fundraise for a charity I feel passionate about. I contacted my little sister in England and asked her if she knew any and she passed on the information of the charity Stepping Forward UK. Stepping Forward promote human rights internationally for people with disabilities. What really got me interested was that they are currently working to support special needs education out in Sierra Leone.

The Hosetta Abdulai Special Needs School in Freetown has 73 children (boys and girls) on the school register. Recently, fundraising took place to buy the school a bus as some days there are only 3 children at the school due to transport problems. Clearly, this fantastic school needs as much support as possible to continue its amazing work. Also, as far as we've come in accepting difference and individuality there is still stigma that accompanies disability. In the community that these kids are from it can put them and their families in intolerable and often dangerous situations. This school creates a community for these kids where they are accepted and offered the life we are all deserving of.

On September 8th, Jeremy and I are going to complete 3 local hikes in 24 hours.

Wedgemount Lake - estimated at 7 hours
Panorama Ridge - estimated at 11 hours
Effin Lakes - estimated at 6 hours

Overall thats 66km with 3280m elevation in 24 hours. We'll document our journey with our cameras and hope to bring back some amazing shots too. I'll also be updating my story on Instagram as we complete the challenge..

We want to raise as much money as possible to provide the school with whatever they need to allow the children the safe and playful learning environment they deserve.
