Story
In 2017 I became involved in a charity called WATU based at the school I currently teach at in Geneva. The charity was set up and run by two incredibly passionate colleagues who have been supporting the same community in Moshi, Tanzania for 15 years. In the summer of 2017 I was lucky enough to travel to Tanzania with a group of students to see the work the charity does. The charity supports three local primary schools in Moshi itself and a secondary school just outside the town. Money and efforts are invested in various projects that are needed to improve the schools such as building new toilet blocks, a water tower and a boarding dormitory. We also help fund school lunches for a number of the students who have been orphaned.
In addition to the institutions the charity supports a small number of outstanding students to continue their studies at university level. Such as Emmanuel who is in his second year studying medicine and Flora who will soon graduate as a lawyer.
Together a colleague and friend Jamie Robertson and I will be aiming to complete Ironman Switzerland this July in Zurich and we would very much appreciate your support. An Ironman is a long distance triathlon consisting of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and finally a 42km (marathon) run.
