Iʼve raised £3,000 to give Thornbury Radio a digital future. These are the final funds needed - to enable us to better serve the South Gloucestershire community.

Funded on Friday, 27th September 2024

    Story

This is the final push. After so much help and support from our listeners we are almost there with the final £3,000 needed by the 27th September.

Thank you if you have already donated or supported our Listeners’ Quiz Night or other activities, such as our Listeners’ Raffle. Its enabled us to start work on goung digital.

To incentivise us in our final push - mid morning presenter Simon Criddle has agreed to have his left leg waxed on air if we reach £2,500. Get to £2,750 and its also his right leg. Help us reach £3,000 and it‘s his chest too! Let’s see how smooth your donations can make Simon!

This is all because we need your help to raise the money needed for us to continue to reach our local audience, Thornbury Radio needs to upgrade to being available on DAB radios. This is will make it easier for us to be heard with a stronger, digital signal - that will future-proof our service.

This comes as Thornbury Radio celebrates being live on FM radio for 3 years. With thousands of listeners, we are at at the centre of the local community.

A force for good - bringing together the local community and supporting and promoting so many good causes, community events, local groups, sports clubs and charities; as well as small businesses across South Gloucestershire.

Going digital is really expensive (it involves new transmitter equipment, aerial and increased running costs). You may not know, but Thornbury Radio is a not for profit community interest company - run by volunteers.

Whilst we have raised much of the cost of going digital ourselves, we now really need your help!

So if you have ever listened and enjoyed Thornbury Radio or if your local community group or charity has benefited from being supported by us - please consider making a donation.

Right now every pound helps to raise the money needed by September 2024 deadline to get us on DAB radio.

    Thank you.

    John Baden-Daintree, Thornbury Radio.

We are there! Thank you so much. Your generous donations have future proofed Thornbury Radio. Any further help you can give until this campaign ends on 27th September will help towards the increased running costs. Test transmissions have now started on DAB. And Simon Criddle is now going to be waxed very smooth! Thank you from everyone at Thornbury Radio.

Thank you so much for your support. With your help, we have now been able to start test transmissions (that you can hear) on DAB. We are now at 95% of what we needed to raise from Just Giving to complete our work on going digital. As an extra incentive, Thornbury Radio’s Simon Criddle will have his chest waxed on air (as well as both legs) if you just help us with the last couple of hundred pounds to reach the £3,000 target by the end of the month. Thank you so much from everyone at Thornbury Radio.
