    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.

    Story

I suffer from spinal muscular atrophy, a degenerative muscular disease. Despite significant muscle weakness I managed to continue to hold down a full-time job delivering top-quality and safe care to many outpatients in the NHS. I have dedicated 20 years of my life working for the NHS, with a passion for delivering patient focused care throughout my career.

I am keen to continue working for as long as I can but as I get older and my care needs get greater my requirements become more complex. My wife cares for me 24/7 and is also not getting younger, and therefore we both need more help.

I require a specially adapted vehicle with ramp and locking system to help me get to and from work. Despite giving up my mobility allowance I am still required to raise £17,000 to purchase the vehicle and this is what I am seeking help with. By June next year, when I have to give up my existing vehicle, I hope to have saved £7,000 but still need a further £10,000. The vehicle is expensive due to the significant adaptations for my needs and to assist my wife with getting me in the vehicle.

As I work I am unable to qualify for any financial assistance despite the fact that if I don't get one I will be unable to work, catch 22. Any help anyone would be willing to give would be amazing.
