I'm raising £1500 to support Thriveology SEND community experiences

Story

I'm raising £1,500 for Thriveology Mental health, SEN and wellbeing, who are seeking community support so we can offer the children and families within our community valuable opportunities for the children and young people to access experiences and activities which will nourish their emotional and mental health, support them to thrive beyond limiting beliefs and create events in a fully inclusive way. More about Thriveology is shared below.

Many, not all, of the children which we directly and indirectly support through Thriveology find accessing school and social groups challenging, so Thriveology are striving to close the gap in access and build a programme of ‘Thriveology experiences’.

These experiences will range from small group animal encounters, family planetarium sensory experiences, inclusive theatre experiences and more…

Our 2026 Thriveology experiences include:

Thriveology Animal Encounters:

Many of the children within our community have a keen interest in animals, sharing the desire to “meet them in real life”. Not only would this be an opportunity for the children to meet the animals, but it also acts as an opportunity to bring families who often feel isolated together. Collaborating with Brambles Animal Encounters, Jess will bring six animals along for the children to meet, including invertebrates, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals.

Brambles Animal Encounters share; “We use sensory boards that have the same textures as the animals. This shows the participant what to expect when handling the animal. We always encourage but never insist that everyone holds an animal.”

The sessions would be held at our Hannington provision, on a Saturday and there will be Thriveology staff present to support the children throughout.

Family inclusive Pantomime show:

Thriveology are developing an SEND family event, where the children and young people will be able to watch a pantomime, adapted for sensory needs. This will be a family event, serving as an opportunity to come together is support and celebration of the SEND community. This event will also incorporate a sensory grotto and refreshments. The funding will help us pay for a theatre company to join us and share the pantomime Robin Hood.
