Weʼve raised £0 to help fund a life changing op for a chronic condition. There is only one proven treatment to work and yet the nhs will not fund it 😢

    Story

Ive always hated my legs with a passion 😢 From my cankles to my chunky calves, fat knees, thunder thighs, saddle bags and the newest term ive discovered recently.........Banana rolls 🙈 (These are the rolls of fat at the top of the backs of your thighs, under your butt crease)

I was bullied because of them, made to feel ashamed of myself and as a result, developed major depressive disorder, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, body dismorphic disorder and suffered from eating disorders attempting to lose weight. I was self harming at age 6/7 years old by cutting my legs and trying to squeeze blood out. I believed I had too much blood in them and thats why they were so much bigger than everyone else i knew.

I have 4 children and struggled massively with each pregnancy and my ballooning shape. I used to exercise alot and after joining the Juice Plus diet plan, i managed to lose over 3st getting down to a healthy 10st. However this made no difference to the shape of my legs. Then after sustaining a back injury in 2016 I could no longer exercise as I did and i regained my weight. My legs got even bigger. This has taken a massive toll on my family as I very rarely leave the house. I spend most days not bothering to get dressed and stay in my dressing gown as I find it hard to find clothes to fit. My relationship with my family is going downhill due to my depression, but my depression is getting worse because my legs are getting worse. I have zero confidence, i dont socialise and have become extremely suicidal at times, requiring the crisis team to be involved. I have been put on extremely strong medications for pain and mental illness, one of the side effects being weight gain 😭 its a vicious cycle. I am desperate for any help you could give me.

Even though Lipoedema is a recognised chronic condition and can lead to the very serious condition lymphodema, the nhs will not fund the only proven treatment to help because it is liposuction. Liposuction is often viewed as an ‘aesthetic’ operation due to vanity, but this is a chronic, progressive, painful condition With no other treatment.

So please my friends family and any of you who suspect you too may have lipoedema, lets raise awareness for this awful fat condition and get the help we desperately need.

If you have any questions or suspect you may too have lipoedema, please feel free to contact me
