Story
Tibet Society is the oldest Tibetan support group in the world, our work has never been more relevant or urgent.
The 2017 UK General Election brought a surge of support and energy from our members with our #VoteTibet2017 campaign. The challenge
for Tibet Society is to ensure that in the new Parliament, Tibetans are not forgotten as they struggle to protect their culture, religious freedom, and fragile environment. Our new Head of Advocacy is now working to build parliamentary support for Tibet.
The 17th Karmapa's Special Talk in May 2017 on "The Importance of Protecting the Environment of Tibet and Himalayas" generated
a huge response online, with over 20,000 views on the live streamed video. It was extensively shared on social media including our own twitter and facebook feeds.
With this level of support to tap into, there is so much more that we can do. But we need to invest in our capacity to take action, including upgrading our website & database, and ensuring we have the tools for effective campaigning and lobbying. Since Tibet Society separated from Tibet Relief Fund, we have an urgent need to raise funds to ensure that our work can continue. So we are launching our crowd funding campaign ...
We would like to make a special request to you to consider supporting us at this crucial time. Tibet Society is solely funded by donations, our need is urgent. We urge you to support us by making donation, today.
Thank you ཐུགས་རྗེ་ཆེ་།

7 years agohttps://www.facebook.com/TibetSociety/ Although Tibetans are forbidden to own a photo of the Dalai Lama, or shout a slogan of democracy on the streets of Tibet — at risk of going to prison and being tortured — Sangay said they are not intimidated by the Chinese government. "You can buy goods with money. You can force action with guns," he said. “But, ultimately, if you want to win the hearts and minds of people, you need respect."
