I've raised £200 to help fund Tilly to go on a humanitarian trip to Tanzania with other young people.

I am 14 years old and I will be taking part in a group humanitarian trip with people close to my age from my school. We are going to Tanzania in the summer of 2019 for four weeks to help with improvements to local communities. We will be helping to build and repair classrooms and homes, to install and improve local amenities, supporting education projects and working with local people to encourage micro-enterprises.
Tanzania faces many challenges - only 30% of the population have any access to water of any kind. Almost half of the population live on one dollar per day. Unicef reports that an estimated 2 million children between the ages of 7 and 13 years are out-of-school. Almost 70 per cent of children aged 14–17 years are not enrolled in secondary education while a mere 3.2 per cent are enrolled for the final two years of schooling.
The expedition is run and organised by Camps International and is also aimed at our own development too in terms of our understanding and contribution to the world around us. I know that it is a once in a lifetime trip and will make a big impact on me, we will be trekking and observing African wildlife.
There are skills and qualities I will bring home with me, but also whilst I am fundraising, I am trying to make a difference in my own local communities. At the moment my fundraising plans involve lots of different activities including organising a coffee morning with friends at the local church, a tea dance for older people, a cake sale at the local farmers market and lots of other things which you can read about on my website.
