Story

Pharo Foundation has made a point of investing where it matters most. In Ethiopia, towns such as Assosa and surrounding areas like Menge, Homosha, and Undulu, lack access to quality education. To combat this, we have made large investments in the region by building state-of-the-art schools. This has included Pharo School Homosha, a fully funded boarding school for girls which regularly scores some of the highest grades in the region. And having run Pharo School Assosa for many years in Assosa town, we recently opened a brand-new campus in Assosa to accommodate the growing demand for quality schooling.

However, for our staff, it is never enough to sit back and look at what we have invested and achieved – we always want to do more. Our COO, Tim Kasperidus, has been central to making this new campus a reality, and is well aware of the investment we have already made in the region, but having seen the water challenges the school and wider community face, he was keen to see what could be done to solve this problem. As such, he has committed to completing an ultra-marathon on May 8th to raise money for a borehole to be built in the brand-new Pharo School Assosa campus. The aim will be for this borehole to provide access to clean water for the school of 1,000 children.

The route will take him 45km from Pharo School Homosha to the new Pharo School Assosa campus, and he will be joined for parts of his run by Pharo School staff and students, who will be supporting and motivating him on this difficult journey.

Recognising the effort he will be putting in, Pharo Foundation has committed to matching any funds he raises up to £9,500 to ensure the project is fully funded.

We hope you recognise the importance of this project and are able to donate towards this cause.
