Derek passed away on 25th October 2020 after working with TAQA for more than 10 years. Up until his stroke a few years ago he spent extended periods offshore at short notice and got to know a wide variety of the TAQA workforce offshore and onshore. He was was well respected by everyone. Due to Covid, his funeral in Brechin on 4th November was regrettably limited to 20 people. Derek's wife has indicated that a memorial gathering be held once Covid is over to celebrate Derek's life, bringing together anyone who wants to attend. Many people at TAQA have asked if a donation or giving page has been opened for Derek, so here it is. The random target set on the home page has been inserted as Just Giving requires one to be inserted. Any funds raised will be put to a good cause and will be discussed with and decided by Derek's wife at the time of the memorial gathering. A note will be sent out to all once this date has been confirmed after Covid passes.

Derek was a keen Brechin City FC supporter and was a season ticket holder. On Saturday 14th November Brechin City FC held their flag at half mast and made an announcement at half time during the game.
