    Story

We're raising money to create the first Triratna retreat centre for the Spanish sangha in order to develop our Buddhist community in Spain and make the Buddha's teachings accesible to more and more people on the Iberian Peninsula. It's a major project and an important step which will have far-reaching consequences for the Tritatna order and movement in Europe. In time we will be able to host Europe-wide and international events at this new venue.

We want to help to strengthen the order and deepen collective Triratna practice in Spain. The effects on the sangha-both within the order and more widely- of creating our own Triratna retreat centre will be very great. It is not easy to measure the impact it will have on the local sangha. One immediate result will be the opportunity to offer retreat facilities for order events, thereby increasing order contact and strengthening and deepening the local order. When you live in the UK it is all too easy to take for granted the positive conditions created by having a Triratna retreat venue (Adhisthana, Padmaloka, Taraloka, Dhanakosa) where order meetings, weekends and retreats can be held. We anticipate that meeting regularly in our own environment will help deepen unity within the order and also help deepen our collective practice.

A very very big thank you all those of you who've given so far to our new project here in Valencia. It's so moving to see our community respond like this with such generosity. I really hope that you all take the opportunity of seeing the new centre and doing a retreat here when it is up and running. We still have a way to go, but are confident that we can proceed with the purchase on schedule. With much metta, Amalamati
