I'm raising £5000 to fund disability and mental health support in the local community.

Organised by Tina Foster

Story

In honour of my beloved son Luke Foster, who very sadly passed away suddenly on 12th March 2024, aged 37 years, I have booked a tandem parachute jump at a height of 15,000 feet, hoping that I can raise funds to help 2 local organisations that I feel Luke would have wholeheartedly approved of.

Luke should have been celebrating his 40th birthday on 23rd August this year, so I’m hoping it will be possible to jump on the day of his birthday, alongside my amazing boss Sam Warden, who has kindly agreed to support and jump with me.

I would be so grateful if you could donate to my JustGiving link below, no matter how big or small, as anything would be greatly appreciated.

The 2 organisations are both a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC).

1. Get The Boys A Lift (GTBAL)

https://gtbal.co.uk/

GTBAL was established by a group of friends back in 2016, operating as a social enterprise, using funds from their coffee shop, clothing and fundraising to provide free and easily accessible mental health support for people across the community.

After walking into their cafe in Haverfordwest, then breaking down into floods of tears as soon as I tried to speak, Get The Boys A Lift staff comforted me with compassion, much needed hugs and a long chat, which then led them to providing me with weeks of counselling. If I could raise some funds for them to be able to carry on doing just that for others, I would be so grateful and I know my Luke would have readily approved, as he’d suffered badly with his own mental health for many years.

2. Windswept Watersports

https://www.windsweptwatersports.com/

It is their mission to provide affordable, inclusive and accessible watersports for all ages and backgrounds, with a focus on disabled and disadvantaged groups.

If you go onto the Facebook page of my employers, Value Independence CIC, and scroll down to last spring and summer, you’ll see lots of photos of their disabled clients experiencing and enjoying water sports, such as paddle boarding, or even just being able to get into the sea.

Any monies raised would be put towards the building of a desperately needed changing area with disabled facilities. This safe space will provide wheelchair users with a dignified place to change and include equipment to hoist them.

Here is the link if you would like to donate to help these very worthy causes.

If you’re unable to donate, you could still help, by sharing this post far and wide.

With heartfelt thanks

Tina ❤️
