Alexey is 12 years old, he has been battling diabetes for several years. His condition is so serious, he has lost his sight twice,fortunately it returned. He currently has to inject insulin five times a day, however due to changes in his body, it is difficult to stabilise. Alexey regularly has to stay in hospital, his mum has to pay for these stays, she is a social worker and is very low paid.

On our recent trip to Ukraine, we met Alexey and his mum, it was heartbreaking to listen to Natallia telling us about Alexey and how she worries she may lose him, Even more heartbreaking, was to hear that Lexey said to his mum, "I wish I could die and be born healthy".

Lexey needs an Insulin pump, this will administer insulin regularly and stabilise his diabetes. Once he has the pump, he will need regular consumables which will cost his mums monthly salary. Neil and I have decided to help her but we want to raise the money to buy him a pump asap.

Whilst we were on our trip, we met a young lady, in the same situation as Lexey, before xmas,they didnt think she would make xmas. However, she was provided with a pump following fundraising, and now her diabetes is stabilised.
