Charna is 9 years old and as Down syndrome charna as reached many of her milestone in life is always smiley happy go lucky princess and in fact help support ( me) being mummy through many heart attacks these last 2 years with her brother 14.

However last 3 years Charna as had problems with sleeping difficulties falling to sleep anywhere at anytime which as caused weight gain difficulty sleeping at regular times and grasping for breath during sleep,in school she falls to sleep which is effecting her education and regular falls to sleep on school transport

After being on a sleep study test waiting list for 3 years we finally got one carried out on may 8 th 2018 after 3 years of waiting due to only Two sleep study specialised beds being avaiable in our area as charna as Down Syndrome it is well known that sleep aponea it closely linked to down syndrome so i expected it to be sleep aponea causing charnas difficulties around the sleeping problems but the sleep study test revealed something different

charna was diagnosed with SERVER BASELINE HYPOXAEMIA which is regarding a very low level of oxygen whilst asleep which can be fatal if charna picks up infections which she is prone to, charna will have to continue tests to find out the underlying problems for this which could be heart or lung related

In the meantime Charna needs CPAP on regular night time basis charna as 14 weeks waiting time for this to commence in royal stoke hospital as there are only two sleep/CPAP study specialised beds avaialbe

The sleep study /CPAP specialused beds work on a 4 day basis and charna will need to have these sessions firstly in hospital on 4 + days to get used to the sessions and machine before its brought home, however the specialised rooms are only staffed during night time so although the alocated room is charna we cannot be present in the room within the daytime this will mean charna myself and another family member will need day time accomadation or travel 4 times a day to and from hospital which charna does not really need to cope with as she gets so anxious and upset travelling back and forth which also as been estimated at around £120 a day and it will exhausted charna out after CPAP and as we all now its very difficult to sleep in hospital

The money i am trying to fund for charna is for day time accomadation so as soon as the specialised rooms close within the allocated sleep study room for charna we can relax and chill out freshen up at day time accomadation and prepare before charna as to return for CPAP in the night again also maybe in this we can get transport costs two and from the hospital locally

we will look at cost effective day time accommadation which is local and near the hospital so as then it cuts further transport costs down

its been so difficult to set this up as i usually help and support others and of course i had a mind block being charnas mum

I will so much appericate any kind of donation towards this as will charna and the rest of my family any donation that is not needed will be distributed to other charities locally
