I'm raising £3000 to support Tinig UK, a nonprofit community website serving Filipinos in Britain.

Hi! I’m Liezel Longboan, founder and director of Tinig UK, a non-profit community website serving Filipinos in Britain. My family and some friends with their kids are running the Green Park Reading 3K mini-marathon so Tinig UK can continue to tell the untold stories of UK Filipinos (estimated around 300,000).
This is me and my husband Harry and son Owen. We ran last year and we are excited to run again this year!
Joining us are our friends Lee Levett (extreme right) and his older son, Leo, 8 (third from right). Mum Rinna and younger son Liam, 6, will be cheering us on.
Our friends Gelai (extreme left) and Ryan (extreme right) will also be running with their two talented daughters, Alexa, 8 and Arya, 6.
The Garcia family are also running with us: (From left) Mum Shei and her kids, Gabriel, 9, Irene, 15, and Yasmin, 11.
Founded in 2020, we have been giving voice and visibility to Filipinos in the UK. Here’s a small list of the wonderful things we have achieved in the last four years, thanks to the contributions of our volunteers. Learn more about our impact here.
We have trained and mentored at least 25 interns - mostly from ethnic minority backgrounds - who have learned skills in journalism, marketing, web and graphic design.
“Writing for Tinig UK helped me understand what it feels like to be a minority in a country and how you would want your stories to be heard by others." Aman Singh, journalism intern, Bournemouth University
We organised a careers event for Filipino nurses in 2024, bringing together new and experienced nurses to share experiences on how to navigate and succeed in their profession.
We have legal advice and parenting columns that address the particular concerns of the Filipino community.
We were the first news outlet to raise the issue of the lack of robust data about Filipino nurses in the NHS during Covid. We were also the first to cover the inclusion of the Filipino ethnic category in the NHS staff record.
We have been featuring Filipino authors, artists, businesses, and events, celebrating our culture, and making them visible to a wider audience.
Help us to continue making the UK media diverse and inclusive by giving space for the voices of Filipinos in Britain. Your donation will allow us to examine issues that matter to us and and other migrant groups, mentor journalism students from ethnic minority backgrounds, write informative articles needed by our readers, and celebrate the contributions of Filipinos in making the UK a great nation.
Maraming salamat! Thank you for your support!
