Tired Paws is a charitable foundation which was established to take care of our beloved retired prison service dogs. After fulfilling their roles within the prison estate, these hard working dogs are retired and stay either with their handler or are rehomed into loving families to live out their senior days on a sofa. Many of the dogs who have been bred and/or specially selected and trained for their roles as search dogs, riot dogs or to guard the prison perimeters daily, are retired earlier than planned on medical grounds. These dogs when retired are no longer owned by HM Prison Service, and are retired without the possibility of becoming medically insured. There is no financial support for a prison dog once its been retired. This unfortunately means they can not always recieve the veterinary care they desperately need. The Tired Paws Foundation aims to financially assist these dogs with any veterinary treatment they may require.
