Story
We are in the blessed position of already having somewhere to live in Canterbury and all the stuff we could possibly need to fill it. We therefore don’t need or want wedding gifts. However, we decided to point anyone who would like to give to a cause we are already invested in and that we’ve got big hearts for.
Any donations to this cause would be hugely appreciated and will help resource Tish in her new project role for September as part of the City Impact team.
This role will be working for a social enterprise charity that is aiming to transform Canterbury in 3 areas. She will be leading the youth project and we would be grateful if you would donate to help get this project up and running.
1) City Impact Canterbury (C.I.C) are a debt centre with 'Christians Against Poverty' which helps people get out of debt. They want to expand their CAP work into a 'Job Club' that hopes to work in cooperation with the Job Centre etc.so that people can get into work and can access the skills that are required.
2) They also are going to launch a youth project that will exist to impact and serve youth across the City. This is consistently the number one area in need of resources in the Canterbury Area and Tish will take on the role of heading up this part of the project. Initially this will be an investigative and research based work that then lays out a plan and a strategy to impact young people through this youth project.
3) Finally, the creation of a central drop in venue where hospitality can be offered to the disadvantaged and charities can use it as a place for their clients to come and be welcomed, served and helped. The idea is that it is a viable cafe space that is aesthetically pleasing on a part with the best coffeehouses in town but used for charitable purposes. It is also hoped that it will provide office space or co-working venue.
Many thanks for your donations :)
