Story

Five of us (Esther, Ludi, Kath, Malcolm, John) cycled from Amsterdam to Berlin in June/July 2018 to raise for community projects in Tisma. The ride of 485 miles was challenging, but enjoyable, with an average daily distance of 50-60 miles.

The Tisma Project is part of the UK's Nicaragua Twin Towns network. In Bradford we work within the Viva! group that brings visitors from Latin American social movements to the District.

In Tisma our link is with Sheyla Aburto, community worker, and Omar Garcia, secondary school headteacher.

We are supporting the following social projects in 2018, and discussing with people in Tisma support for 2019 and 2020.

1. Early years teaching materials

2. Support for a poor University student for 1 year

3. Clothes and shoes for La Perla community

4. Materials to repair secondary school chair-desks

5. Support for secondary school music group.

Sheyla Aburto in Tisma says " Each one of these social projects was put under the microscope before choosing it, so that they are really of benefit to many people with few economic resources of their own. Through these projects we will be strengthening the social, scholastic, cultural, emotional, physical and mental health of all those people.

How You Can Support These and Future Projects

Please support us by donating to the Tisma Project. You can find out more about the links with Tisma on our facebook page The Tisma Project and website Viva Bradford .

In addition to donation through JustGiving, you can support the projects in Tisma through a Standing Order and one-off donation  by  bank  transfer, with more information at Viva Bradford

We do not aim to provide large finance but to support initiatives that will help the poorest in Tisma and where possible to provide the means for families and communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
