Story

On 01/09/17 I received a call about an elederly dog who has been neglected, and whos current owner had threatened to shoot if he wasn't rehomed.

I desperately wanted to help him, and searched Facebook for a foster home for him. Luckily a lady in Edinburgh kindly offered up her home providing we could deliver him to her.

We set off to collect the dog, planning to crate him overnight to get an early start for the 10hour round trip to Edinburgh the next day.

As soon as I walked in the first thing I noticed was his smell, like he hadn't been bathed or groomed in over a year. The second thing was that his fur was moving with hundreds and hundreds of fleas. (I counted around 200 when I bathed him at home later that night).

On the walk home we saw that he limped slightly and upon checking his paws saw that his claws were so long they had curled back into his feet.

The most upsetting thing however was when Ty urinated, he passed almost pure blood.

I knew I couldn't pass Ty over to yet another new person (I'm now his 5th owner) and we made the decision to keep him on ourselves. He is 10/11 years old and is just desperate for a loving home to settle in.

Along with this decision has come unexpected vets bills (first appointment has cost £83, with follow up appointments over the coming weeks). The vet ran an extensive urinalysis to determine the cause of Tizer passing blood in his urine - unfortunately there was so much blood and so many infections (the worst case the vet had seen of his career) we now expect that Ty will need to be cathaterized, and have bladder scans/xrays to find the root cause of infection and crystal build up.

We are more than willing to pay to save Tys life ourselves, but so many people have wanted to help we thought we'd set up a just giving page so anyone wanting to can donate.
