10 years ago, after the passing of my father and the stresses of working in the city I had a nervous breakdown and some subsequent suicide attempts over the years. I have been on various drug therapies, had counselling and psychotherapy and nothing has helped me.

I live in the UK and the medical establishment (NHS) have failed me over and over. They do not feel that my depression is severe enough to receive rTMS and have refused to offer it to me or give me an alternative solution.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) is the latest effective, non-pharmacological treatment for depression in the UK.

Living with the symptoms of depression can be very debilitating and approximately a third of patients with depression do not respond to treatment. This is known as ‘Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD)

For patients suffering in this way, rTMS is a significant, new treatment option.
The basic principle of rTMS is to target short magnetic pulses over the scalp to produce electrical currents in specific brain regions that regulate mood. It has an 86% success rate for people like me.

I believe rTMS will be the cure I have longed for over the last decade and basically, I need money. I am unemployed and have not been able to hold down a job since my breakdown; by myself I cannot afford the treatment. If you can donate any amount, little or large, it will help me greatly toward affording this treatment.

As you can see it is not cheap, then there is the cost of any follow up appointments and travel.

I have estimated I will need about £5500 to cover everything, inc the crowdfunding fees, potentially be cured of this debilitating condition and be happy. Giving me a new lease on life, and hopefully the opportunity to get back into work.
