Story
Hi All,
Thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
This page has been set up to help Toby Dawson and his family. The reason for this is detailed below...
It saddens me to have to write that Toby has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. This has come as a complete shock to all of Toby’s family and friends.
Toby attended a pre-operation at Addenbrookes hospital on Monday 21st October 2019 for further analysis and confirmation on the next steps that need to be taken. The two options were, being able to operate to remove the Cancer or to receive further treatment such as Chemotherapy. The outcome of this appointment was that they are unfortunately unable to operate and he will receive Chemotherapy to help with increasing Toby's life expectancy.
Toby has unfortunately had to stop working to start his fight against this awful disease.
Toby is only 35 years old and is a father of three. He is very well known throughout the football community and is also known for his absolute wand of a left foot and his ability to wind players up very easily, #lovesanibble. He is currently still the manager of Whittleford United FC and will be for as long as he is fit enough to do so. This speaks volumes about his character and who he is as a person - Born fighter, born winner.
The illness has stopped Toby from returning to work and being able to fully provide for his family and this is the reason why we need everyone’s support in donating as much or as little as you can. All donations will go to Toby and his family to help them as much as possible during this awful time.
I hope every one that reads this will reach out to Toby to offer their love and support to reassure him that he will not be fighting this alone.
Regarding the fundraising, please see the details of this below.
Some of Toby's friends including myself will be organising fundraising events over the next few months that you will be able to keep updated with by looking on the Facebook events page which will be shared on social media.
The first event we have organised is on Friday 29th November. The event will be a charity football match where a Sawston United veteran team will play against a Haverhill Legends team at Haverhill football club, Chalk Stone Way, CB9 0AW. Kick off is at 19:30 and we hope as many people as possible will attend to show their support for Toby. The football match is free entry and there will be a collection bucket going round that we hope people will kindly donate as much as they possibly can.
There will also be a raffle with some great prizes to be won, all donated by his friends and local businesses. If any one is willing to donate a raffle prize please contact Jamie Campbell or Simon Warren and we will add you to the Facebook page.
Toby is remaining positive while fighting as hard as he can for his family and he appreciates all the love and support he has received so far. We hope to raise as much donations as we can over the next few months.
Thank you to every one of you who have donated so far and for any future donations Toby and his family receive.
