I've raised £500 to support and raise awareness for The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust.

This fundraiser is in support of The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust, a charity that has recently launched. This charity is extremely important to me, as Ben Latham, a dear colleague and friend, tragically lost his life suddenly in December 2018 from this condition. The charity has been co-created by Ben’s mother, Pauline Latham MP, to reduce the unnecessary deaths from this condition.
Aortic Dissection isn't something that's widely known as was the first time that I had heard of it. However every year, 2,000 people lose their lives in the UK after aortic dissection - similar to the numbers dying from skin cancer or blood clots on the lung.
Without a greater awareness of this conditon, the death rate will significantly increase by 2025. Many of these deaths can however be avoided, through better diagnosis when a patient shows symptoms and through the screening of family members, as the condition can be genetically passed on.
I will be supporting this charity moving forwards, raising awareness through various fundraising events, supported by my business Customer First Digital.
The first event is a charity bike ride, were I am cycling the equivalent distance from my home town to Ben’s birth town of Derby and back (200 miles). As an inexperienced biker, I will be biking this in stages, aiming to complete this as fast as I possibly can.
Further details on the charity can be found on their official site:
