Story

On September 30th myself and some good and very supportive friends, who have got together to help me, will be setting off on a two day charity bike ride to raise funds for the Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre (SMRC) in Preston.

The SMRC provide specialist wheelchair, prosthetic limb and orthotic rehabilitation services throughout Lancashire and South Lakeland for people of all ages with long-term mobility problems and is also a specialist centre supporting military veterans. As well as getting people back up and mobile they provide continuous support and the staff are second to none, so this is my way of saying thank you for all their help!

Setting off from SMRC in Fulwood the route will take us past Longridge Fell and towards Settle, to Clapham in North Yorkshire, returning the following day, the total distance is just over 130km (80 miles) and in total climbs 1438 metres (4719 feet).

If you’d like to take part in the full ride let me know quickly, as numbers are limited, or you could join us for a few hours either day. If you can help by morale support, donating or raising sponsorship you’re still taking part and every little will help!

You can donate via my paypal account tom@grangelanegarage.co.uk or direct to the various people collecting sponsorship, sponsorship forms are available from Sue Morton – sue@laptopbits.co.uk.

Thanks,

Tom Banks
