Story
My wife and I are raising money for the Nancy Glen fund. We have decided to both do a SKYDIVE from 10,000 feet! We have self funded our Skydiving trip so every penny raised here will be going to the Nancy Glen fund. We are aiming to SkyDive on 24th February, however the weather might change this date. We need to raise as much money as we can to convince us to do the jump, going up a ladder is high enough for me so 10.000 feet will be a challenge. The Clyde Fisherman's Association has given us their support to start this page and although there is a separate Just Giving page for the Nancy Glen fund, we feel we want to contribute to it as much as we can. Being a local fisherman myself, and a father of 3 young children, we understand the risks involved in going to sea and can't imagine what the families of the lost fishermen are going though.
On the 18th January this year the Nancy Glen, a fishing boat based in Tarbert, was tragically taken by the sea. Two fishermen, Duncan MacDougall and Przemek Krawczyk lost their lives. These fisherman have not yet been found, it is believed that they are on the vessel which now lies on he sea bed.
The families wish to retrieve their loved ones as soon as possible, however this will take a great amount of effort to raise the Nancy Glen. The fishermen have left behind wives and young children. The Nancy Glen currently lies on the sea bed in 140m of water. To make this even harder on the people of Tarbert, the area of sea she went down in is within sight of the town and homes of the families.
We are asking for your support in this matter, so that we can pass all the money onto the families of the lost fishermen to help them in their wish to get their men back and lay them to rest, and to help support their young children in the tough times ahead. No fisherman should ever be left at sea.
