Story

A group of students from the Winston Churchill School will be going to Costa Rica for 3 weeks in the summer of 2019. I need to raise £3795 to be able to go. While out there I will be spending time working on community projects and trekking through the jungle doing research on animals and plants. The type of community projects include helping build buildings for local communities e.g. schools or houses and during the time in the jungle we will be spending time finding out why conservation of such beautiful rainforests is so important and why it should be preserved not just for future generations to enjoy but to keep a diverse eco-system alive all over the world. This expedition and the lead up to the expedition will help the group and I develop such a wide variety of skills and qualities for example confidence, self-esteem, maturity, independence, ability to be part of a team, to lead and be led, ability to communicate day-to-day and under pressure, understanding of the importance of humility, empathy, compassion, gratitude and pride, organising, planning and preparing, problem solving, flexibility, adaptability and initiative, skills to assess and manage risk, financial management and budgeting and the knowledge to travel safely and responsibly. As people who know me will know, I love helping people, I love spending time outdoors and I love making a difference and with this life changing experience I will be able to do just that. I feel as if this opportunity will not just help me develop as a person but also help change lives for local communities and children who will benefit from the charity work we will do before and during our time in Costa Rica. I would really appreciate any donation no matter how small as every last penny will help me reach the goal. More information click here
