Story
This year, I’m taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire Marathon to fundraise for 'Liam Critchetts Next Step'.
Completing 26.2 miles is no easy task, but it’s nothing compared to the obstacles Liam and others overcome in their life and through their recovery. My goal isn’t just to finish the race, it’s to raise money and awareness for this charity, which means so much to me.
Liam faces daily challenges due to his disability, yet he remains one of the most resilient, inspiring and funny people I know. I would really like to raise awareness and highlight the Journey Liam has been on, and is still on!
The charity is dedicated to supporting Liam’s specialist spinal neurological physiotherapy. Liam, was diagnosed with spinal cord cancer at age 11 and has undergone years of treatment, including chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. Despite being a full-time wheelchair user, he has made incredible progress through intensive physiotherapy to take his first unaided steps in 13 years. However, Liam unfortunately required surgery earlier this year which has set him back quite a lot and meant less opportunities for fundraising.
Donations help fund his ongoing physiotherapy, which is crucial in his journey to regain mobility. When I'm running the marathon I want to channel the dedication that Liam has to his physio.
You can follow Liam’s progress and learn more about his journey on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/p/Liam-Critchetts-Next-Step-100064515740232/
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me x
