We think of the Fiji Islands as an idyllic paradise but in reality it is far from it. Over 75% of children live in poverty in Fiji and have little or no access to education or sport. In September of this year, I am taking on a huge volunteering challenge and will be travelling to Fiji to join the Think Pacific team for a month. The Think Pacific registered charity (Fijian Charity FJ989) has supported around 10,000 children annually, enabling children in the remotest areas to increase basic maths, literacy, science and sport. Whilst in Fiji I will be living in one of the poorest areas with a Fijian family and working in a disadvantaged local school to help teach and introduce sports coaching. This voluntary challenge, in partnership with the Fijian Government, will be difficult but very rewarding for me knowing that I have helped children living in such poverty.

The schools in Fiji are in a very poor condition and teaching resources are extremely limited but £9 could provide everything a child needs for primary school. To help me with my challenge and to raise money for resources for the schools, I have set up this Just Giving page and would be very grateful if you could help me to raise sponsorship. Your sponsorship will go a long way to helping these children and will help me to make a big difference out there.
