Story
With the fast spread of COVID-19, guidance is advising those 70+ to self-isolate for the foreseeable future. This is going to cause significant negative effects for the older person- not just loneliness, but also a huge detriment to their physical well-being.
Elderfit are in the process of setting up an online platform that will allow people to exercise in the comfort of their own home. We also want to develop this into a community forum, reducing isolation and bring people in a similar situation together. This online service will provide regular exercise videos to keep those most vulnerable active and engaged throughout their seclusion, as well as offering them a social outlet.
Keeping active is particularly important for older people as without regular movement their mobility will greatly decrease, leading to a significantly increased rate of falls and injury.
We are asking for donations to allow us to finish this vital project and bring it to households throughout the UK (not just Wales), so older people at home remain active and healthy throughout this difficult time.
100% of the funds raised will be used towards the project. The money will be specifically used for:
Paying for website costs to support the platform
Promoting the online service across the UK to reach as many people as possible
Any additional money raised will go towards keeping this service free for as long as possible
