Story

The story so far...

In October 2016, two Directors of Black Isle volunteered for a community project in southern Kenya. The project was run by Camps International in partnership with their 100% giving charity, The Camps Foundation. They were so moved and inspired by the experience that the Black Isle Group (BIG) Foundation was setup in January 2017.

The first BIG project is to build, from the bricks up, nurseries at Itinyi and Sasenyi primary schools where over 90 children currently learn outside. The schools are in a remote, semi-arid area of the Tsavo region of Kenya with over 65% of people living in poverty. The nurseries will allow children to benefit from a clean and safe environment in which to learn and thrive.

I will be travelling to Kenya on Friday 14th June for 8 days to assist with the building of the nursery at Itinyi and would greatly appreciate any donations!

What has happened...

Kicking us off, my colleague Dan completed a mammoth 24-hour gaming marathon, streamed live on Twitch at the start of March, and managed to raise an incredible £180!

Up next, myself and 7 of my colleagues tackled the Tough Mudder course on Saturday 24th March at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. We had a tough run full of obstacles, sweat and, of course, lots of mud... But well worth it!

And finally...

On Saturday 25th May I will be cycling from Guildford to Shoreham and then back to my front door in Slinfold - a grand total of 60 miles! For those of you who know me, you will know that I am not exactly a keen and experienced cyclist, and I am expecting it to be a thoroughly gruelling challenge. However, plenty of water, a few puncture repair kits and a bit of sunshine will see me from start to finish!
