Tom Ferrett is a gamekeeper on the Tetworth Hall Estate, Cambridge and is taking on the challenge of running a Half Marathon in St Neot’s for the child bereavement charity For Zachary.

For Zachary is a small local charity set up in memory of Zachary Philip Winfield, who sadly lost his life at 10 weeks of age. Zachary’s parents set up a charity to support bereaved parents who suffer the agonising loss of a child, after they experienced little help or support following the death of their only child. The charity currently provides boxes with items to capture final memories of a child who has sadly passed away. The charity also donates comfort boxes to the Paediatric and Neonatal units in Northampton General Hospital throughout the Christmas period to families who find themselves in hospital around the festivities.

Tom is a dear family friend of Zachary’s grandfather who is a gamekeeper on the Great Staughton Estate. Tom ran the St Neot’s half marathon last year and raised over £500 for the charity and this year has taken the challenge to run again with a goal of raising £1000. With the lead up to Christmas fast approaching, the money that Tom raises will provide the families in Northampton General Hospital with comfort boxes this Christmas. The boxes are filled with goodies to make a difficult Christmas seem a little bit better, filled with home comforts and items to create lasting memories. Last Christmas we provided 50 boxes to the hospital and this year we plan to send 100 following the amazing feedback that we received.
